Plan to be part of the 2009 Fleet Feet 15K - Run into Buffalo scheduled for Labor Day Monday - September 7th, 2009. And this year's race has been selected as the USA National Masters Championship 15K.
The 2009 Fleet Feet 15K - Run into Buffalo promises to be better than ever with some significant changes. First, our designation of the race as the National Masters Championship elevates the race to a new level. There will be a new starting time - 8AM instead of 9AM. A brand new location for all the day of activities - Erie Canal Harbour at Canal Side - our region's newest edition on the waterfront. The pre and post race events will afford terrific views of downtown, the lake, river and most of all the tremendous new Canal Side development. Along with our new location, a new course too - one that will still take in the beauty of the Delaware District and Niagara Square with the waterfront too !!
Applications will be out shortly. You will also be able to register online - more details to follow.
In 2008, the race donated over 300 pairs of Brooks running shoes to local high school athletes. While the majority of the shoes were given to athletes in the Buffalo Public Schools, this year we were very pleased to provide shoes to young runners from Albion, Barker, Lewiston Porter and North Tonawanda.
Special thanks to Brooks for supporting the race and for providing us with an opportunity to purchase all of the shoes we need to help these young student athletes achieve their running goals.
David from Barker wrote us a note this year: "Thank you for the really cool shoes. I needed them and now I can run to my full potential." Your support of our event does change young lives !
Pictured on the right are only half of the shoes we donated in 2008.
When we started the event in 2007, our goal was to use the event to not only promote the City of Buffalo, but also to use the proceeds from the event to have an immediate, positive impact on our local community. With the 2008 donation we have helped over 700 area runners in just 2 years. Our goal is to grow the race to the point where we can donate at least 1000 pairs of shoes every year.
Thanks again to everyone who ran, volunteered or sponsored our event, you are the ones who make this donation reality.

Never ran a 15K - want to try the distance. Check out a new program with the 15K as the goal race in the Training program tab.
